Wow, been a ghost town here on the main website for a few years, huh? Well, that was for a reason and that reason didn’t involve jail or drugs! I don’t post on my websites unless I have something of substance to post and today I’ve got a double-helping of substance to singlehandedly post for my promotion and, hopefully, your enjoyment – my first and hopefully not last RPG soundtrack for RPG Maker game Shattered Realms by DracoWyrm Media!
As I post here on October 2nd, 2023, the game itself is still in development while I worked on this soundtrack off and on since 2019, although the soundtrack should have been completed long, long, long before that and that was entirely my fault. This is 27 tracks intentionally done with a retro RPG sound foundation (soundation? Can I combine those two into a single word?) and a handful of tracks are designed to sound like a range of classic JRPG composers and songs. Trying to sound like other people is always a challenge that requires luck for getting a start that evokes those same thoughts when listening, but it was effort well worth its spending.
To wit, those stylistic references are:
- Kenji Ito – Tracks 3 and 8.
- Hiroki Kikuta – Tracks 5, 11 and 22.
- Yasunori Mitsuda – Tracks 4, 7, 12, 18 and 20.
- Yasunori Shiono – Tracks 1, 3, 8, 13 and 15.
- Masanori Hikichi – Tracks 2, 6, 9 and 19.
- Motoi Sakuraba – Tracks 6, 9, 10, 15, 20, 23 and 25.
- Yuzo Koshiro – Tracks 3, 14, 17 and 21.
- Michiko Naruke – Tracks 10, 13 and 21.
- Noriyuki Iwadare – Tracks 4, 13 and 27.
- And finally, naturally, Nobuo Uematsu – Tracks 1, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 24, 26 and 27.
And now, the Bandcamp embedding. 27 tracks for $5.00 or $0.50 each.
Thank you and enjoy!
